This year, Prayaas is not just a show of kathak, but a festival of classical arts, with various shades of performances, across varied age groups, styles, gurus, moods and proficiencies. Rasik Performing Arts has been founded by Smt Jayashree Acharya, a disciple of Shri Sant Gopal Mishra ji, Reba Vidyarthi ji and the legendary Padma Vibhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj ji. Jayashree Acharyaji has been teaching in Gurugram since 2004 and has nurtured an entire generation of kathak dancers in our city in the traditions of the Lucknow gharana. We are blessed to be part of a dance practice that is guided and inspired by so many famous gurus.

It has been 27 years to the journey of Rasik Performing Arts. And through this time, traditional practices and details of the classical forms of kathak, sure-shishya parampara have been kept alive. As Rasik Performing Arts came to Gurgaon it played the crucial role of promoting arts and culture in this city, at a time when the culture scenario was extremely nascent and young people had no avenues to engage with the richness of Indian traditional performing art forms. Rasik performing arts, has been organising annual showcases for several years, and has also organised several baithaks, lecture demonstrations and workshops as a part of consistent training.
